SP 17 platform to start gas production in winter

Tehran, Nov 10, IRNA – Managing Director of Pars Oil and Gas Company says production of sour gas from South Pars Phase 17 marine platform will start in winter.
Speaking to IRNA, Ali Akbar Shabanpour referred to the development process of Phases 17 and 18 in South Pars and said the flare of Phase 18 platform has been lit up and final steps of its operation are underway.
Shabanpour noted that since the refineries of these phases have not become operational yet the sour gas will be transferred to the refineries in Phases 15 and 16 through a branch pipeline.
He stressed that Phases 17 and 18 refinery units are approaching completion adding that two units of the said refineries will be completed and put into operation by the yearend (March 21, 2015) and in the early stage will use sour gas of Phases 6, 7 and 8.
He said with the laying of a pipeline between phases, gas obtained from Phases 6, 7 and 8 will be transferred to the refineries in Phases 17 and 18.
By lighting up the flare in Phase 18, production has been started in this phase and with the completion of onshore activities of the phase in this joint field, products of this phase which amount to 17 million cubic meters will be injected into the nationwide network.
During the next two weeks and with the operation of the pipeline between Phases 17 & 18 and 15 & 16 possibilities will be provided for transfer and refining of 17 million cubic meters of gas product of Phase 18 in the refineries of Phases 15 and 16.
Phases 17 and 18 in South Pars gas field are being developed with an aim of producing 50 million cubic meters of gas, 80 thousand barrels of gas condensate and 400 tons of sulfur per day as well as one million tons of ethane and 1.5 million tons of LPG per year./end
