Mongolian government had recently taken a decision to submit the draft law on casino to the Parliament. If adopted, the law will regulate the creation and activities of casinos in Mongolia according to the global standards, terms for enterprises conducting gambling activity, regulations for licence holders and will also define the system and means of state monitoring.
The law initiators said that in order to intensify the development of tourism sector, to improve its capability to compete in international arena and increase the currency flow, it is necessary to start casino activity in Mongolia.
According to the statistics, Mongolia ranks at 99th among 144 countries of the world by its competitiveness of tourism and 19th among 25 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. In 2013, over 400 000 tourists traveled to Mongolia and the revenue of the sector has reached 263 million USD, which made up 5.29 percent of the nation's GDP.
By submitting draft law on casino the government has set a new goal for the country: to generate 14 percent of GDP from tourism sector by 2020.
