Moscow may host summit of BRICS leading mass media in 2016

ST.PETERSBURG, June 19. /TASS/. A summit of the world’s leading mass media outlets from the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) may be held in Moscow next year.
The particular idea was discussed by TASS Director-General Sergey Mikhailov and Cai Mingzhao, the director general of China’s Xinhua news agency, in Russia’s St. Petersburg on Friday.
"We have a great experience in holding these events," Mikhailov said.
In his turn, Mingzhao has supported the proposal.
Besides, TASS has offered its assistance and support in organizing a summit to be held in China in late October this year. The event will be attended by five leading mass media outlets from each BRICS member-state.
At the meeting, Mikhailov also said that TASS plans to launch an information resource in the Chinese language. "We have a great plan to create a separate TASS website and a newswire in the Chinese language. I hope that we will implement this in the next couple of years and we also expect to receive the assistance of Xinhua here," he added.
