Lavrov discusses work in conditions of global economic turbulence with Malaysian business people

MOSCOW, August 5. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has discussed the issues pertaining to cooperation with Malaysia and other ASEAN member-countries in conditions of the persisting turbulence of the global economy with CEOs of big Malaysian corporations in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said. "There was a focused and substantial exchange of views on the issues relating to cooperation with Malaysia and other ASEAN member-countries in conditions of the ongoing turbulence of the global economy," the ministry said. "The parties unanimously reaffirmed the importance of the business community for the trade and investment cooperation between Russia and ten ASEAN member-countries, the implementation of large-scale joint projects in the field of transport, infrastructure and energy. They pointed to the role played by the Russian Business Council for Cooperation with Malaysia in promoting the bilateral economic ties." According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lavrov and Malaysian business people deemed it viable to actively use various regional and international venues for promoting contacts between entrepreneurs, including the first Eastern Economic Forum due to be held in Vladivostok in September.
