PM to attend APEC meeting in the Philippines on Nov 18-19
BANGKOK, Nov 6 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will attend the 23rd meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in Manila on Nov 18 and 19.
Sek Wannamethee, director-general of the Information Department and spokesman of the Foreign Ministry, said Gen Prayut and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai would be in the meeting entitled “Building Inclusive Economics, Building a Better World”.
There are two main topics on its agenda: inclusive growth through economic integration and inclusive growth through sustainable and flexible communities.
“The APEC meeting is aimed mainly at promoting mutual trade and investment, social cooperation and development. Member states are economies with roles and potential including the United States, Russia, Japan and South Korea. The prime minister will urge the quality and fairness of economic growth. He would like to see all parties equally enjoying economic growth. This responds to a policy of the United Nations. He will also propose the application of sufficiency economy to develop communities,” said the spokesman of the Foreign Ministry.
Mr Sek also said that on the occasion the prime minister would meet the APEC Business Advisory Council and discuss support for small and medium-sized enterprises and Thai economic development with innovations. He will also meet national leaders who play important roles in the region as well as representatives of the Pacific Alliance consisting Colombia, Peru, Chile and Mexico. (TNA)
