Thai PM orders solution to civil aviation

BANGKOK, December 2 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has ordered a solution to Thailand's civil aviation, after the United States' Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has downgraded its rating from Category 1 to Category 2 standard. Arriving back at Thailand's Suvarnabhumi International Airport on Wednesday morning from the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris, the prime minister told journalists that he has instructed parties concerned to speed up the solution to secure Thailand's civil aviation business internationally. Meanwhile, Government Spokesman Major General Sansern Kaewkamnerd explained that FAA's downgrading means that Thai-registered airlines are prohibited from operating direct flights to the United States and from increasing routes there. The spokesman stated that Thailand has accepted the FAA's decision, acknowledging that some improvement tasks need some times, including the recruitment of specialists to license commercial pilots for specific types of aircraft. According to the spokesman, the downgrading should not have an immediate negative impact on the Thai civil aviation because Thai-registered airlines do not operate any direct flight to the United States for the time being but it could influence other countries'future conditions on aviation deals with Thailand.
