Chiang Rai hit by mild earthquake

CHIANG RAI, Feb 21 (TNA) - Officials said Thailand’s northernmost province of Chiang Rai was hit by mild temblor early Sunday. A preliminary investigation showed that no casualties were reported. The Meteorological Department reported that the 3.2-magnitude quake recorded at a depth of one kilometre occurred at about 9 am. The epicenter was in Mae Lao district. Villagers living in the district could feel aftershocks while authorities in the province closely monitored the situation to ensure that there were no further aftershocks would occur afterwards. Chiang Rai was hit by 6.3-magnitude quake in 2015 with epicenter in Phan district. Many buildings, including Wat Rong Khun were damaged. (TNA)
