Drug traffickers nabbed in Thai South
CHUMPHON, THAILAND, February 29 (TNA) - Two Thai suspects in a Lao narcotic network have been nabbed in Chumphon Province in the Thai South with nearly 300,000 methamphetamine pills.
Thai authorities, including Chief of Provincial Police Region 8 Police Lieutenant General Tesa Siriwato, Chumphon Police Chief Police Major General Narintra Busayawit, Chumphon Governor Somdee Khachayangyuen and local anti-drug experts, announced the case at a joint press conference on Monday, saying that the two Thai suspects, aged 24-25, were arrested while trying to pass through a permament checkpoint on Petchakasem Road in Chumphon's Patiew District with the 296,000 methamphetamine pills, worth 87 million baht, hidden under their pickup truck near the gas tank.
The two Thai men confessed that they were hired by a Lao drug network via the social media to deliver the drugs to a receiver in Chumphon.
The suspects said they received the drugs at a Mekong River bank in Ubon Ratchathani Province in the Thai Northeast, opposite Laos.
The suspects also confessed to have carried out similar acts several times before they were arrests. (TNA)
