Former Deputy PM, top Thai banker passes away
BANGKOK, June 2 (TNA) - Kosit Panpiemras, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Bangkok Bank, Thailand’s largest commercial bank, and a former deputy prime minister has passed away peacefully at the age of 73.
Bangkok Bank announced that Kosit passed away on June 1 at Bangkok’s Chulalongkorn Hospital, after suffering from cancer.
According to the bank's announcement, a royal bathing rite for Kosit was set on June 2, followed by Buddhist funeral rites at the Debsirin Temple in the capital until June 4.
Kosit received his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Bangkok-based Chulalongkorn University, Master’s Degree in Economics from US-based Maryland University and many Honourary Doctorate Degrees, one of which from the School of Development Economics under the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA).
Kosit also served as a deputy prime minister and ministers at several portfolios in the past. (TNA)
