EU beginning to understand importance of equal dialogue with Russia - Lavrov

MOSCOW, July 18. /TASS/. The European Union now begins to better see the importance of equal, mutually advantageous dialogue with Russia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday after talks with his visiting Portuguese counterpart, Augusto Santos Silva. "As concerns international agenda, we spoke about improvement of the situation on the European continent," Lavrov said. "We are interested to have relations with the European Union based on equality and mutual benefit and oriented towards common strategic interests of all countries of our common continent." "We see that the European Union is beginning to better see that such an approach has no alternatives," the Russian top diplomat noted. The European Union "is aware that solution to major international problems can be found only through consolidated effort. We uphold the same positions in our relations with NATO." Read more
