Navy Cadets From Eight ASEAN Countries To Visit Makassar
MAKASSAR, South Sulawesi, Sept 15 (Antara) - Navy cadets from various ASEAN member countries grouped in the ASEAN Cadet Sail 2016 will sail together aboard legendary navy ship KRI Dewaruci and will make a call at Makassar, South Sulawesi.
"There is a program involving eight countries whose cadets grouped in the ACS will sail aboard KRI Dewaruci and will call at Makassar," the commander of the 6th Naval Main Base, Commodore Yusup, said here on Wednesday.
He informed that the cadets of the eight countries were indeed expected to be in Makassar, the provincial capital of South Sulawesi on September 20-23.
They are scheduled to pay courtesy calls on the commander of the 6th Naval Main Base, South Sulawesi governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo, chief of the Wiabuana 7th Military Command, Major General Agus Surya Bakti, chief of the 2nd Air Force Operation Command, the South Sulawesi regional police chief and the mayor of Makassar.
They will also hold an "Open Ship" program to give the public an opportunity to visit the ship.
During the Open Ship program, the cadets will board the ship and will be allowed to interact with the visitors.
The cadets from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar and the Philippines are also scheduled to visit a number of tourist sites.
The ASEAN Cadet Sail is the first program initiated by the Indonesian Navy to nurture friendship among cadets of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations countries.
