Kremlin aide suggests Moscow host CIS summit in October 2017

MOSCOW, September 15. /TASS/. At the CIS summit in Kyrgyzstan’s capital of Bishkek scheduled for September 16-17, Russia will put forward a proposal to hold the next Commonwealth summit in October 2017 in Moscow, Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov told journalists.
He said that the question of transitioning the CIS presidency to Russia in 2017 will be considered at the Bishkek summit. Ushakov added that after Russia, Tajikistan would take over the CIS presidency in 2018.
"A decision will be made on holding the next meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State. Our country has suggested the date of the meeting be set for October 2017 in Moscow. We hope that this date will be agreed on in Bishkek," the presidential aide stated.
The presidential aide also said that the issue of the CIS Executive Committee’s chairmanship was also going to be considered. "At the end of the year, Sergey Lebedev’s term in office will expire, but we have introduced his candidacy for another three-year term. We’ll see what the leaders decide," the aide explained.
