Putin informs Emir of Qatar about preparations for Russia-Turkey-Iran summit in Sochi - Kremlin

MOSCOW, November 20. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has informed Emir of Qatar Tamin bin Hamad Al Thani about preparations for a trilateral summit of the Syrian ceasefire guarantor nations (Russia, Turkey and Iran) to be held in Russia’s Sochi, the Kremlin press service said on Monday after their telephone conversation. "During the telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Emir of Qatar Tamin bin Hamad Al Thani, the sides exchanges views on key problems of the situation in the Middle East, in the Gulf region and on the situation in Syria in the context of successes reaching in the fight against terrorist groups and prospects of political settlement in that country," the Kremlin said. "Putin informed the emir about preparations for a trilateral summit in Sochi of the leaders of the Astana process guarantor nations - Russia, Iran and Turkey," the Kremlin said. According to the press service, the sides "positively assessed the Russian-Qatari cooperation and stressed mutual interest in its further expansion in various spheres." Russian president’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said earlier that Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia, Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey and Hassan Rouhani of Iran would meet in Russia’s Black Sea resort city of Sochi on November 22 to discuss Syrian settlement problems.
