BTEC system to be adopted for personnel development in Thailand
BANGKOK, July 23 (TNA) - Thailand is developing curricula of vocational students based on the internationally-recognized system of the Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) in the United Kingdom, aimed particularly to produce qualified personnel to serve the government's targeted industries in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Development Project.
Kanit Sangsubhan, Secretary-General of the EEC Policy Committee, told journalists on July 22 that he and his entourage, including those from the Office of Vocational Education Commission, under the Thai Ministry of Education, visited the United Kingdom from July 16 to 19, during which a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Thai government and UK-based Pearson Education Ltd., where the BTEC is a key arm, was signed.
Kanit stated that under the MOU, the Thai government and UK-based Pearson Education Ltd. will work together, as of next month, to develop curricula, based on the BTEC system. for vocational students in Thailand, emphasizing on courses that meet demands in the EEC Project.
Kanit revealed that the move followed last month's trip to the United Kingdom by Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha, during which he visited Pearson Education Ltd. to learn on its modeled system on the production and the development of human resources to serve the UK industrial sector, through BTEC.
Pearson Education Ltd. is a globally-recognized education publishing and assessment service firm for schools and corporations, with its reputation in secondary school leaving qualifications and further education qualifications and in its significant role on supporting the business competitiveness enhancement of European nations.
