Algeria experiencing Iranian cinema style: Minister

Algiers, Aug 6, IRNA – Algerian Minister of Culture Azzedine Mihoubi described a joint project of film-making with Iran as an opportunity for getting familiar with the Iranian cinema style as well as exchanging cultural knowledge between the two countries. Mihoubi made the remarks on the sidelines of a ceremony to start shooting of Iran-Algeria joint project, the ‘Ahmed Bey’ movie, on August 5 (Sunday) in the Algerian capital. The film, being directed by Jamal Shourjeh, depicts episodes of Algerian fighter Ahmed Bey who was ruling Algeria's Constantine in the Ottoman era. He spent many years of his life fighting French colonization. Speaking to Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), the Algerian minister said the film laid grounds for more cooperation between Tehran and Algiers in various fields related to cinema and arts. An Iranian team will give consultation on the stunt, make-up, shooting and sound-on-film. All the starring actors and actresses are Algerian, but the behind-the-scene elements are Iranian, said Amir Mousavi, Iran's Cultural Attaché in Algiers. Referring to the past joint film-making projects with other countries such as France, Italy and some Arab countries, Mihoubi said Algerian cinema is now provided with the opportunity to learn the Iranian style. The film screen writer Rabih Zarif told IRNA that the cooperation will prove to be a helpful experience for him and other Algerian artists. Follow us on Twitter @IrnaEnglish
