Thai workers urged to keep on self-development

BANGKOK, September 25 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has suggested that Thai workers, especially the younger generations, keep on their self-development to keep pace with the world fast changing situation and technologies. The prime minister made the remarks when a group of Thai youths, led by Thai Labor Minister Police General Adul Sangsingkeo, paid a courtesy call on him at Bangkok's Government House on Tuesday. The labor minister informed the prime minister that the Thai youths have brought fame to the nation by winning several prizes at the “12th World Skills ASEAN Bangkok 2018” competition, hosted by Thailand during August 30-September 2, in which over 330 young workers from all the 10 member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) participated. The prime minister expressed his appreciation to the Thai youths for bringing the prestige to the nation, advising that they continue developing their skills to sustain their income and the country's well-skilled workforces. According to the prime minister, the promotion of steady skill development among workforces in the country is also included in the Thai government's ongoing 20-year development strategy and is part of the Thailand 4.0 Policy. The group of Thai youths won a total of 23 medals from the “12th World Skills ASEAN Bangkok 2018” competition, themed “ASEAN Skills, Crafting the Future”, comprising of 16 gold, four silver and three bronze medals, as well as 13 best consolation prizes.
