Baghdad not to be part of anti-Iran sanctions: Iraqi PM
Tehran, Feb 6, IRNA – Iraq will not be a part of the anti-Iran sanctions, said the prime minister of Iraq in a meeting with Iran's Central Bank Governor in Baghdad on Wednesday.
Abdonnaser Hemmati discussed with the Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdol-Mahdi on the latest situation of banking and monetary relations between the two countries.
Stressing the reinforcement of the ties, the two parties discussed the ways for facilitating banking and financial relations to enhance trade between the two countries.
Hemmati hoped that the relations will expand more than before, especially in banking.
Hemmati arrived in Baghdad on Tuesday evening and was received by his Iraqi counterpart Ali Mohsen Ismail al-Alaq; they also signed an agreement on payment.
Mode of payment for Iraq’s electricity and gas imports from Iran is the major chapter of the agreement.
On his two-day visit to Baghdad, Hemmati is slated to visit the Iraqi President Barham Salih.
