Thailand's e-commerce value expected to exceed US$13b by 2025
BANGKOK, March 13 (TNA) - The global e-commerce value is expected to exceed 100 billion US dollars by 2025, with Thailand's value of the online business likely to then stand over 13 billion US dollars.
The Bangkok-based Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) made the projection on Wednesday, after Thailand's e-commerce value totaled about 2.81 billion baht last year.
According to the public organization, the largest proportion of Thailand's e-commerce in 2018, or 59.56 per cent, was the business to business (B2B) sale, worth about 1.68 million baht, followed by the business to consumer (B2C) proportion of 28.89 per cent, worth about 0.81 million baht, and the business-to-government (B2G) proportion of 11.55 per cent, worth about 0.32 million baht.
The ETDA reported that Thailand's B2C e-commerce proportion expanded by about 15.54 per cent year-on-year in 2018, almost a double growth when compared with the B2B proportion of about 8.63 per cent year-on-year.
"Therefore, ETDA projected that Thailand's e-commerce value should total over 13 billion US dollars by 2025, accounting for at least 10 per cent of the overall global e-commerce value then", stated the public organization report. (TNA)
