Kyrgyz president hails EAEU’s pace of development

CHOLPON-ATA, August 9. /TASS/. The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is demonstrating a good pace of development, Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov said on Friday.
"The EAEU has become a strong and efficient integration union, measures are taken jointly towards a free movement of goods, services, capital and labor," the president said as he met with the prime ministers of Russia, Armenia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
"GDP grew 2.5% on the average across the union in 2018," he said. The Kyrgyz leader also emphasized growing international activity of the Eurasian Economic Union. In particular, trade and economic relations are developing with China, Iran and Vietnam. Cooperation talks are underway with Israel, Singapore, Serbia, India and Egypt, the president added.
"It is important to continue expanding the list of the countries with which we are simplifying mutual trade. It is also necessary to channel our efforts into the implementation of infrastructure projects," he went on to say.
Railway transportation is of specific interest for Kyrgyzstan. "Joint projects along this trajectory will bring all of us good economic dividends, which will increase interest of other Central Asian countries in our integration union," he stressed.
The prime ministers of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan take part in a session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Cholpon-Ata.
