Iran's 4-Place Improvement in Fixed Internet Speed Test Ranking
A report from Speedtest on the median speed rankings of mobile and fixed internet across countries shows that, despite a 2-place drop in Iran’s mobile internet ranking, the country has risen by 4 places in the fixed internet category.
According to a report by Mehr News Agency, Speedtest’s website has published its latest report on global median internet speeds for mobile and fixed connections in October 2024. The global median mobile internet speed was 59.15 Mbps, and the median fixed internet speed was 94.52 Mbps in October 2024. In contrast, last month (September), the median mobile and fixed internet speeds were 56.76 Mbps and 94.16 Mbps, respectively.
In other words, the global median speed for both mobile and fixed internet improved in October 2024 compared to the previous month.
Iran’s Mobile Internet Speed Growth
According to the report, in October, the median speed of Iran’s mobile internet was 37.88 Mbps, and the median speed for fixed internet was 15.66 Mbps. Based on these statistics, Iran’s rank in the mobile internet category fell by 2 places to 73rd, while in the fixed internet category, the country rose by 4 places to 140th.
It’s worth noting that last month, Iran’s mobile internet median speed was 37.39 Mbps, and the fixed internet median speed was 15.28 Mbps. Additionally, Iran’s position in the global mobile internet ranking dropped by one place to 71st, while in the fixed internet category, the country rose by one place to 143rd.
UAE’s Internet Speed Exceeds 400 Mbps
In the Speedtest ranking for countries with the highest median mobile internet speeds, the first three positions go to the United Arab Emirates (428.53 Mbps), Qatar (356.74 Mbps), and Kuwait (258.51 Mbps). Interestingly, the rankings for these countries have remained unchanged compared to the previous month.
Denmark (149.73 Mbps) and Bulgaria (147.68 Mbps) hold the fourth and fifth positions, with Denmark rising by 2 places and Bulgaria by 3 places.
South Korea, with a median speed of 146.42 Mbps, the Netherlands at 139.37 Mbps, and Norway at 139.37 Mbps, occupy the sixth, seventh, and eighth positions, respectively. South Korea and the Netherlands each dropped by 2 places, and Norway fell by 1 place.
Luxembourg, with a median speed of 127.57 Mbps, ranks ninth, and Singapore, with 123.73 Mbps, ranks tenth. Both countries moved up by one place in the ranking.
Singapore Has the World’s Fastest Fixed Internet
In the Speedtest ranking for countries with the highest median fixed internet speeds, the rankings have seen little change compared to last month. Singapore (316.99 Mbps), the United Arab Emirates (300.54 Mbps), Hong Kong (296.97 Mbps), Chile (279.14 Mbps), and the United States (253.34 Mbps) occupy the first to fifth spots, and their positions remained the same as last month.
France, with a median speed of 274.35 Mbps, holds the sixth position, rising by one place from last month. Thailand, with a median speed of 236.12 Mbps, ranks seventh but has dropped one place compared to the previous month.
Denmark (230.41 Mbps), Iceland (224.58 Mbps), and Romania (220.66 Mbps) are ranked eighth, ninth, and tenth, respectively, and their positions have not changed from the previous month.
