The CEO of Iran’s Telecommunications Infrastructure Company emphasized the importance of collaborative roles in fostering the digital economy of regional countries during his participation in the TurkmenTel exhibition.

According to the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, Behzad Akbari attended the TurkmenTel event, where he held discussions with Chakyev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet for Communications and Transport, and Khodaverdi Quliyev, Head of the Communications Agency.

Speaking about the outcomes of the visit to Turkmenistan, Akbari highlighted the main topics of the meeting: joint cooperation in the ICT industry, transit of data traffic between regional countries, and East-West traffic routes using the territories of Turkmenistan and Iran. He noted that the Turkmen delegation warmly welcomed Iran's proposals.

Akbari stressed the need for technical preparations to establish joint connections between the two nations. He explained that the growth of the regional digital economy relies on interconnecting countries and assuming cooperative roles. Turkmenistan and Iran, due to their strategic geographical positions, can play a significant role in enhancing the region’s digital infrastructure.

He also mentioned that during the event, meetings with operators from other participating countries took place, laying the groundwork for broader connectivity in the region.
