QNA Director-General Participates in OANA Meeting

Kuala Lumpur, February 17 (QNA) - The 54th Executive Board meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) commenced Monday in Kuala Lumpur. 
    The Qatar News Agency (QNA) participated in the meeting with a delegation chaired by HE QNA Director-General Ahmed bin Saeed Al Rumaihi.
    The discussions during the meeting, held under the theme "Future News Agencies: Embracing Technology for Sustainable Growth," focused on the role of artificial intelligence in news production and the evolving relationship between traditional media and digital platforms. The significant transformations in the media landscape brought about by AI technologies were also highlighted, along with two panel discussions addressing the challenges and opportunities faced by news agencies amidst rapid technological advancements.
    The meeting, which brought together representatives from member news agencies, discussed various issues related to enhancing media cooperation in the region and developing mechanisms for news and information exchange in light of these technological developments. Additionally, the challenges faced by news agencies in the digital era and ways to strengthen credibility and combat fake news were explored.
    The board reviewed a report on the decisions taken during the 53rd meeting held on September 15 in Moscow, and announced the winners of the photography and best article competitions. It was also announced that two new competitions would be held among member agencies for the best investigative article and the most beautiful photo.
    Furthermore, the financial report of the organization was discussed, and the nomination of the Russian news agency "TASS" to host the next General Assembly meeting in June was approved. 
    On the sidelines of the meeting, HE the QNA Director-General held bilateral meetings with several heads and directors of participating news agencies to explore ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and share media expertise.
    Established in 1961, the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) aims to promote the exchange of news and information among news agencies in the region. It includes several prominent news agencies from various Asian and Pacific countries. (QNA)
