Housing Minister meets UN-Habitat official

Manama, Apr. 25 (BNA): Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, received Dr. Shipra Narang Suri, Senior Policy Advisor to the Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), on the sidelines of the 2025 Social Housing Innovation Conference.
The minister reviewed the Kingdom’s efforts to provide adequate housing for citizens in line with the programmes and periodic reports aligned with UN-Habitat objectives. She noted Bahrain’s continued development of innovative initiatives to expand housing options and its partnerships with the private sector to accelerate the delivery of housing services, thereby contributing to the development of safe and sustainable communities.
The minister commended the efforts of UN-Habitat in supporting initiatives aimed at securing adequate housing and promoting sustainable development as a foundation for housing security and social stability.
On her part, Dr. Suri praised Bahrain’s initiative, through the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, in organising the Social Housing Innovation Conference, which fosters the exchange of ideas and expertise in this key sector. She also commended Bahrain’s pioneering experience and innovative approach to delivering essential housing services to citizens.
