iGA CEO discusses digital cooperation with UN organisations

Doha, Apr. 25 (BNA): Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), held a series of meetings with representatives of United Nations organisations on the sidelines of the 2025 MENA eGovernment workshop, held in Doha from April 23 to 24.

Al Qaed met with Danny Wazen, Head of the Digital Transformation Team at the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States, to discuss cooperation in capacity building for human resources in artificial intelligence and its role in supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

He also met with Morten Meyerhoff, Academic Fellow and eGovernment Advisor at the United Nations University, to explore cooperation in user experience enhancement and hosting joint workshops on global best practices to support public satisfaction with digital services.

In a separate meeting, Al Qaed discussed strategic projects with Hunt La Cascia, Senior Public Sector Specialist at the World Bank. The meeting reviewed Bahrain’s technical experience in governance, including the recently launched upgraded ID card and the eKey 2.0 system, which provides biometric authentication for unified access to services.

These meetings were held alongside Al Qaed’s participation in the “Digital Governments in GCC Countries” session, organised in cooperation with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), and attended by senior officials and experts in digital government and transformation.
