Two Holy Mosques Authority Deploys Advanced Technology to Monitor Crowds

Makkah, May 21, 2025, SPA -- The General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque is utilizing advanced technology during the 1446H Hajj season to monitor and manage crowd movement at the main entry and exit points of the Grand Mosque.
The system relies on ground sensors and entryway readers to enhance operational efficiency by tracking the flow of pilgrims and improving crowd management in cooperation with the relevant authorities.
The system employs state-of-the-art smart cameras that detect entry and exit activity in real time, enabling accurate monitoring of pilgrim movement and identifying congestion points to enhance crowd flow strategies.
This dual system of sensors and cameras helps improve crowd distribution inside the Grand Mosque, particularly in the Mataf and Mas'a areas, supporting the organization of movement and enhancing the safety of visitors, especially during peak times. It also facilitates smoother entries and exits by relying on accurate real-time and historical data to inform decision-making.
The initiative is part of the authority’s ongoing efforts to harness modern technology to improve the services provided to pilgrims.
