Bishkek, Sept. 10, 2025 /Kabar/. The youth (U-23) Olympic team of the Kyrgyz Republic played a decisive match of the qualifying round of the 2026 Asian Cup against the team of Sri Lanka on September 9. The game took place at the capital's stadium named after Dolon Omurzakov.
Earlier, our team beat Palestine with a score of 2:1 in Group E, and in the second match played a 2:2 draw with Uzbekistan.
The match with Sri Lanka ended with a confident victory for the Kyrgyz team - 6:0. Thanks to this result, the team overtook its rivals and, having scored 7 points, took first place in the group, securing a direct ticket to the Asian Cup.
This is the first time in history that our youth team of this age has reached the continental championship.
The final stage of the tournament will be held in Saudi Arabia on January 7 - 25, 2026. In total, 16 best teams will compete for the trophy: the tournament hosts - Saudi Arabia, 11 group winners and 4 best teams that took second place.
