Efforts on Reforming Educational Structure Made in Educational Sector of DPRK

Pyongyang, September 10 (KCNA) -- The educational sector of the DPRK is striving to improve the educational structure to give more advanced and practical education to students, thus ensuring a guarantee for raising the overall educational level.
The Ministry of Education made preparations for introducing a new system of teaching management at major universities and universities in the teacher training sector and for implementing the second universal 12-year compulsory education programme in the field of general education from the new school year.
Major universities put spurs to merging and reorganizing faculties and subjects and introducing new teaching management system to suit the specific conditions of the units.
They make efforts to form teaching units in keeping with the mapping of curriculum for each subject and the educational requirements.
Universities in teacher training sector developed and introduced the integrated teaching management system in line with the introduction of a new system of teaching management, and solved the problems arising in its operation, thus making the new system prove effective in educational practice.
They concentrate efforts on solving the problems arising in enforcing new teaching management system such as strengthening the teachers' forces and setting up teaching units.
A workshop and demonstration for reforming the educational structure took place in different parts of the country amid the brisk work to generalize the experience gained by introducing the course of selective education at the senior middle school level into Songnim City of North Hwanghae Province, Hoechang County of South Phyongan Province and Jongphyong County of South Hamgyong Province. -0-
