SFDA Issues Warning Against Altarouti Chicken Frankfurt Due to Contamination with Staphylococcus Aureus Bacteria

Riyadh, September 18, 2025, SPA -- The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has issued a warning against the "Altarouti" brand Chicken Frankfurt, which is manufactured in Saudi Arabia. The affected product is packaged in 12-piece packs, with an expiration date of 05/04/2026 and batch number (L2216.ZCN.F). According to an SFDA press release, laboratory tests conducted by the authority confirmed the product is contaminated with Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, which can pose a health risk to consumers.
The SFDA urged consumers to avoid consuming this product and to dispose of it immediately. It also underscored that it has taken the necessary steps to withdraw the product from the market and has stopped the factory's production line.
Additionally, the SFDA has initiated legal action against the manufacturer, noting that violations of the Food Law and its implementing regulations can result in penalties, including imprisonment for up to 10 years, a fine of up to SAR10 million, or both.
The bacteria were discovered during inspection tours of food factories conducted by SFDA inspectors to ensure food safety, deter violations, and prevent the use of products that may pose a risk to consumers.
The SFDA emphasized that it will not tolerate any violations that may affect the health of citizens and residents. It said it will continue to enhance product safety and take action against violators.
The public is encouraged to report any food-related violations by contacting the SFDA's unified call center at 19999.
