Bishkek, Sept. 29, 2025 /Kabar/. Eldik Bank became the first financial institution in Kyrgyzstan to speak at the panel session "Central Asia – The New Silk Road to Sustainable Development" at the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit, held on the sidelines of the 80th anniversary session of the UN General Assembly in New York. This participation underscored Eldik Bank's role as a recognized leader in the region and confirmed its significant contribution to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
The panel discussion brought together business representatives, politicians, and investors from five countries in the region, along with other participants in the sessions and events of UN General Assembly Week 2025. The session addressed the strategic potential of Central Asia as a bridge between East and West, as well as new opportunities in green finance, renewable energy, and sustainable infrastructure.
Speaking on behalf of Eldik Bank, Deputy Chairperson of the Management Board Aichurek Zhakypova emphasized the special significance of Kyrgyzstan as a country with the greatest hydropower potential.
She noted that today, Eldik Bank is a driver of green transformation in Kyrgyzstan – an initiator and facilitator of sustainable change. The bank represents a fully-fledged financial and digital ecosystem, uniting subsidiaries in telecommunications, investment, and leasing. It actively implements green financial products, develops renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, supports women entrepreneurs, and finances large infrastructure projects and SMEs.
The bank's plans to issue $300 million in Eurobonds on the London Stock Exchange in 2026 were also announced. The proceeds will be used for green projects, strategic infrastructure development, and expansion of the bank's digital ecosystem.
"Eldik Bank is proud to be the voice of Central Asia on the international stage of the UN Global Compact. This is a unique opportunity for us to highlight responsible business practices, our goals, and our plans to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals," Zhakypova said.
Eldik Bank's participation in the panel session was a significant contribution to strengthening the international standing of both the bank and Kyrgyzstan as a whole, highlighting the country's role in implementing the global sustainable development agenda. It is worth noting that the Bank is also a member of the Board of Directors of the UN Global Compact Office for Central Asia.
