Kyrgyz FM Kulubaev meets with US Deputy Secretary of State Landau

Bishkek, Sept. 29, 2025 /Kabar/. On September 26, 2025, in New York, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Jeenbek Kulubaev met with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau.
The press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said that during the meeting, the parties discussed key issues and prospects for the development of bilateral relations, including the expansion of political and trade-economic cooperation. Both sides confirmed their readiness to continue joint efforts to advance Kyrgyz-American interaction, including through regular bilateral consultations, visits, and contacts.
Special attention was given to strengthening trade and economic cooperation, with a focus on identifying new opportunities for business development. Minister Kulubaev emphasized that the Kyrgyz side is interested in attracting American investors and new technologies and stands ready to create favorable conditions for that purpose.
For its part, the U.S. side reaffirmed its commitment to advancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The two sides also discussed sanctions-related, visa, and migration issues. Minister Kulubaev stressed the importance of a balanced approach to sanctions and highlighted the need to ease visa requirements for citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic. Both sides acknowledged the importance of maintaining regular contacts on these matters.
Regional cooperation was addressed separately, with the parties underscoring the significance of engagement within the C5+1 format and reviewing planned activities under this framework.
In conclusion, the parties reaffirmed their mutual intention to continue a constructive dialogue across a wide range of bilateral cooperation.
