Director General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing receives non-resident Norwegian Ambassador to Bahrain

Manama, Oct. 4 (BNA): Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Director-General of the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, received Kjersti Tromsdal, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to the Kingdom of Bahrain, resident in Riyadh, and Monika Thowsen, Deputy Head of Mission.


 

The visit aimed to learn about Bahrain’s expertise in implementing alternative sentencing and rehabilitation programmes.

Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid expressed appreciation for the visit, noting that it reflects Norway’s keenness to strengthen bilateral cooperation. He highlighted that the Alternative Sentencing Programme is a key component of the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and supported by qualitative rehabilitation initiatives such as the Open Prisons Programme.


 

Ambassador Tromsdal was briefed on Bahrain’s experience in applying the Alternative Sentencing and Open Prisons Programmes and their notable achievements in the field of human rights. The meeting also discussed means to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise in related areas to serve the shared interests of both countries.


 

The ambassador expressed appreciation to the leadership, government, and people of Bahrain, commending the distinguished experience she observed and emphasising the importance of strengthening future cooperation between the two countries.
