Bahrain Culture Authority participates in GCC Ministers of Culture meeting in Kuwait

Kuwait, Oct. 9 (BNA): The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), represented by Farah Mohammed Mattar, Director General of Culture and Museums, took part in the 29th Meeting of Their Highnesses and Excellencies, Ministers of Culture of the GCC, held in the State of Kuwait from October 7 to 9. The meeting coincided with Kuwait’s selection as the Capital of Arab Culture and Media for 2025.


 

The agenda covered the recommendations of the preparatory meeting of the GCC General Cultural Committee, which included 14 items across various areas of culture, arts, and heritage. Discussions focused on strengthening the unified Gulf cultural identity and reviewing several joint cultural initiatives of shared interest. At the conclusion of the meeting, the submitted recommendations were approved by Their Highnesses and Excellencies, Ministers of Culture of the GCC.


 

On the sidelines, a ceremony was held to honour distinguished Gulf creatives and cultural figures for their outstanding contributions to the cultural and media fields locally and regionally. From the Kingdom of Bahrain, honourees included artist Ahmed Al Jumairi, recognised for his work in music, composition, and singing, and the late Dr. Yousif Mohammed, recognised for his studies and intellectual contributions.


 

BACA was also represented in the preparatory meetings, with Farah Mohammed Mattar participating in the meeting of the Cultural Committee of Undersecretaries of Culture, and Hani Ali Behzad, Director of Communication and Partnerships, attending the meeting of the Cultural Committee of Directors of Culture.
