Oil Minister participates in 2025 World Conservation Congress

Abu Dhabi, Oct. 10 (BNA): Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, participated in the 2025 World Conservation Congress, hosted by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in Abu Dhabi on 9-15 October.
The minister highlighted the significance of this edition of the Congress as a critical platform for addressing climate change, biodiversity loss, and the shift towards a sustainable green economy. He emphasised that Bahrain’s participation underlines the Kingdom’s commitment to the Paris Agreement, the Sustainable Development Goals, and the 2030 Global Biodiversity Framework.
Bin Daina showcased Bahrain’s achievements in environmental protection and biodiversity conservation. He highlighted the Kingdom’s progress in rehabilitating coastal and marine ecosystems, alongside innovative national initiatives such as the “Mangroves of Bahrain” programme, designed to expand mangrove coverage and enhance carbon sequestration. Other efforts include large-scale afforestation projects, the expansion of green spaces, and comprehensive wildlife and protected area conservation programmes. These initiatives form a key component of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, reflecting a long-term commitment to balancing development with environmental stewardship for the benefit of future generations.
The minister also expressed pride in Bahrain’s leadership in ecosystem restoration and climate resilience, citing initiatives such as the “Mangroves of Bahrain” programme and the National Afforestation Plan, which collectively strengthen biodiversity protection and sustainable resource management.
Bin Daina visited the United Arab Emirates pavilion to review pioneering environmental projects, including the UAE’s use of robotics and drones for mangrove planting, as well as national efforts to safeguard coastal ecosystems and promote marine sustainability.
