Bahrain Embassy in the UK participates in Conservative Party Annual Conference

London, Oct. 11 (BNA): Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Dean of the Arab Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Kingdom, hosted the annual Arab Ambassadors’ Council luncheon in honour of Dame Priti Patel, the UK Shadow Foreign Secretary, on the sidelines of the Conservative Party Annual Conference held in Manchester. The event coincided with the centenary of the birth of former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and was attended by members of the House of Lords and the House of Commons, ambassadors, diplomats, local council members, and Conservative Party representatives.

 

In his remarks, the ambassador highlighted the importance of Arab–British relations and the constructive cooperation between nations, particularly in light of current regional and international developments. He underlined the United Kingdom’s important role in maintaining international peace and security.

 

Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed congratulated the Conservative Party on the centenary celebration of Lady Thatcher’s birth, noting that Arab–British relations witnessed significant growth across political, economic, and defence fields during her tenure.

 

Dame Priti Patel commended the depth of historical Arab–British relations and underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation across various sectors. She also emphasised the value of upholding principles and ideals in political work.

 

On the sidelines of the conference, the Bahrain Embassy organised a seminar in cooperation with the Conservative Middle East Council on relations between the Middle East and North Africa region and the United Kingdom. Tony Davis, Olympic Boxing Coach for the Kingdom of Bahrain, delivered a talk during which a short film was presented about his experience in Bahrain.

 

During the conference, Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed met several senior members of the Conservative Party, including Andrew Rosindell, Shadow Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Kit Malthouse, former Secretary of State for Education and Minister of State at the Home Office and the Ministry of Justice; Lord Francis Maude, former Minister of State for Trade and Investment; and Richard Fuller, former Chairman of the Conservative Party, along with other MPs and Lords.

 

The ambassador also hosted a dinner for Bahraini students studying in Manchester, expressing pride in their dedication and achievements. He encouraged them to make the most of their academic experience abroad, enhance their knowledge and skills, and represent the Kingdom of Bahrain honourably. He emphasised the embassy’s readiness to support and assist Bahraini students and wished them continued success.
