Speaker meets Morocco's President of Chamber of Councillors

Geneva, Oct. 22 (BNA): Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Division of the Kingdom of Bahrain, held a meeting with Mohamed Ould Errachid, President of the Chamber of Councillors of the Kingdom of Morocco, on the sidelines of the 151st General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Switzerland.
Al Musallam highlighted the deep-rooted ties between Bahrain and Morocco, noting that the ties are supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Majesty King Mohammed VI of the Kingdom of Morocco, and reflect a shared vision between the two countries.
He commended the strong parliamentary cooperation between the two countries and the ongoing exchange of expertise in legislative and parliamentary affairs. He noted the importance of coordination and alignment on regional and international parliamentary issues.
The Speaker also commended the Council of Representatives' active role in hosting key parliamentary events and expressed Bahrain’s interest in enhancing cooperation, particularly in parliamentary training and legislative development, to support institutional parliamentary work.
Al Musallam noted that Morocco’s parliamentary experience serves as an advanced model of openness and engagement with societal issues, offering valuable lessons for Arab parliaments.
For his part, Ould Errachid expressed appreciation for the attention given to Bahrain-Morocco ties by both countries' leadership. He commended the role of Bahrain’s Council of Representatives and Shura Council in supporting Arab and international parliamentary cooperation.
He also highlighted the importance of strengthening institutional communication between the two councils, encouraging mutual visits and specialised delegations, to foster dialogue on development and economic issues and unify parliamentary positions in support of broader regional progress.
