Iraq and Turkey Discuss Syria, Iran File, and Regional De-Escalation at Doha Forum

Baghdad / NINA /- Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein discussed with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, the situation in Syria and the Iran file, stressing the importance of reducing regional tensions and enhancing stability across the Middle East.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met on Sunday with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, on the sidelines of their participation in the 23rd edition of the Doha Forum.
According to the statement, the meeting included discussions on bilateral relations between Iraq and Turkey and ways to strengthen political, economic, and security cooperation in a manner that serves the interests of both countries and supports regional stability.
The two sides also reviewed developments in regional and international affairs, particularly the situation in Syria. They emphasized the need to support efforts aimed at achieving political and economic stability, encouraging investment, and promoting development initiatives that alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people.
The ministers additionally discussed the Iran file and agreed on the importance of reducing tensions in the region and pursuing political solutions based on dialogue and mutual understanding to reinforce regional security.
During the meeting, Minister Fuad Hussein provided an overview of the political developments in Iraq, highlighting the successful electoral process and the ongoing discussions to form the new government, reflecting progress in consolidating democracy and enhancing internal stability.
