Grand Monuments Symbolic of Historic Feats of National Liberation
Pyongyang, August 14 (KCNA) -- A great number of people from all walks of life are visiting the Arch of Triumph at the foot of Moran Hill in Pyongyang on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of Korea's liberation.
The Arch of Triumph, built as an edifice in the era of the Workers' Party in April 1982, is a grand monument representing the history of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle of President Kim Il Sung who liberated Korea against the one-million strong Japanese army without the support of the state-backing home front and regular army.
Grand monuments of the times were erected in different parts of the DPRK to convey the immortal exploits performed by the President for the historic cause of national liberation.
The Wangjaesan Grand Monument conveys the exploits of the President who convened the historic Wangjaesan Meeting in March 1933 and expanded and developed the armed struggle into the homeland, giving hope for national liberation and confidence in the victory of the revolution to the Korean people groaning under the Japanese imperialists' bayonet.
The Monument to the Victorious Battle of Pochonbo, built in Hyesan City, Ryanggang Province, comprehensively deals with the main contents of the revolutionary traditions of our Party, created in the course of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle, with the main stress on the Battle of Pochonbo. In June 1937 the President led the main force of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army into Pochonbo and fought the battle to deal a heavy blow to the Japanese imperialists, demonstrating to the whole world that Korea is alive, not dead.
There are also the Samjiyon Grand Monument and the Monument to the Victorious Battle of Musan Area which convey in ideological and artistic way the historical fact that the President made a gun report of victory in the homeland again and instilled confidence in national liberation into our people in May 1939, proving the armed struggle is the only way out and arms are the guarantee for the victory of the Korean revolution.
The grand monuments of the times are shining as the symbol of the immortal revolutionary exploits of the President and the eternal treasures of our revolution. -0-
