Mawhiba Organizes Training Camp for Saudi Astronomy and Space Team in Slovenia

Riyadh, August 20, 2026, SPA -- The King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), in partnership with the Ministry of Education, is organizing an overseas training camp for the Saudi astronomy and space team in Slovenia from August 16 to 29.
The camp forms part of the team’s preparation program for the 19th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA 2026), scheduled to take place in Vietnam.
The camp is being held in cooperation with the Slovenian astronomy team and the Society of Mathematicians, Physicists and Astronomers of Slovenia. It aims to enhance the team’s readiness through an intensive training program combining theoretical instruction with practical training.
The students will benefit from an advanced training environment in a location with minimal light pollution, providing ideal conditions for astronomical observations and enabling them to gain practical experience, further enhancing their observational and applied skills in astronomy.
The camp also provides an opportunity for joint training with members of the Slovenian national team, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and expertise while exposing participants to international best practices in preparing and training teams for science Olympiads.
