Nepal Needs Technical Aid Following Deadly Floods, Foreign Minister Says

   Kathmandu, August 29, 2026, SPA -- Nepalese Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal stated that while his country does not require search and rescue personnel, it has formally requested specialized technical assistance and expertise from international partners to manage the aftermath of recent devastating floods.
   Nepal has also requested neighboring India and China to supply prefabricated mobile bridges to expedite the reopening of vital transport and communication routes following the destruction of around 20 bridges across affected areas.
   The crisis follows a massive avalanche on Wednesday that unleashed torrents of ice, mud, and debris through Himalayan river networks, triggering floods that killed more than 600 people in Nepal and China's Tibet region, while leaving over 2,000 others missing.
