Malaysia Stands In Solidarity With Poland Over Shooting Tragedy
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 8 (Bernama) -- Malaysia stands in solidarity with the people of Poland and extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families following the shooting in Kraków, said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Anwar also expressed sadness over the tragedy, which claimed six innocent lives and left many others injured, while wishing those affected a swift recovery.
He also expressed deep concern over reports suggesting that the attacker was influenced by far-right extremism.
“This tragedy underscores the need to confront terrorism in all its forms, including the growing threat of violent right-wing extremism. No ideology can justify the murder of innocent people,” he said in a Facebook post on Sunday.
Anwar reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to working closely with the international community to counter extremism and uphold peace and human dignity.
In the incident on Saturday afternoon, a gunman reportedly inspired by far-right ideology killed six people, including a British national, and injured many others in Kraków, Poland’s second-largest city.
According to international media reports citing police, the attacker drove into Main Market Square before opening fire on people in the area.
