CHURCH ARSONS: POLICE MONITORING BLOGS, SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- The police are monitoring blogs and social
networking sites to source for credible information on several cases of arson at
churches in the country.

Police Headquarters Bukit Aman CID director Mohd Bakri Mohd Zinin said a
special team was set up to investigate the cases round-the-clock in an effort to
identify the perpetrators.

"All leads are looked into although how insignificant they may appear," he
said in a statement here Wednesday.

He was commenting on an article in English local newspaper, which implied
the police had been ineffective in tracking down the offenders as well as those
involved in cases that sparked public interest.

Mohd Bakri said the cases had to be handled fairly and expeditiously.

However, he advised the public to remain calm and not to speculate or spread
any rumour on the cases.
