MALAYSIA TO INVITE CEOs OF BIG COMPANIES TO EXPLORE INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES
IPOH (Malaysia), Jan 18 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will be inviting chief
executive officers (CEOs) of Fortune 500 companies to be guests at international
events held in the country as part of the government's effort to attract more
foreign investment, said Second Finance Minister Ahmad Husni Mohamad Hanadzlah.
"They will also be given the opportunity to meet up with ministers and the
Prime Minister (Najib Tun Razak) to explore business opportunities,"
he told reporters after launching a building fund for a night hawkers guild,
here Sunday.
Ahmad Husni said this was a new step being taken by the government to
attract investment to further boost the economy.
He said the first programme that would have the CEOs as guests would be the
Malaysian Formula One (F1) race at the Sepang International Racing Circuit in
March.
For start, he said, Khazanah Nasional Berhad had been asked to identify
between and 20 and 30 "Top Guns" to be invited (to be guests during the F1
programme).
Khazanah Nasional Berhad is the investment holding arm of the Government of
Malaysia entrusted to hold and manage the commercial assets of the government
and to undertake strategic investments.
