Iran can play key role to establish regional peace: FM
Tehran, June 17, IRNA - Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Monday that the Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly proved its major role to establish regional stability and security.
He made the remarks while addressing the 18th international conference on Persian Gulf opened this morning.
A number of scholars from European, Asian and African states as well
as the US are attending the two-day conference which is being held at the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS).
Mottaki reiterated that the regional states, due to their common
religious and social views, have the readiness to shoulder the
responsibility of establishing stability and security in their own
region without the help of any foreign country.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran considers regional cooperation and
convergence as a priority to its foreign policy," he added.
Mottaki said that regional cooperation would not violate rights of any
country in the Persian Gulf region.
Briefing the audience on the latest developments over Iran's nuclear
program, he said Tehran welcomes interest of member states of the
Persian Gulf Cooperation Council to produce nuclear energy.
He voiced Iran's readiness to share experience with the regional
states in the area of nuclear technology.
