M'SIA TO HOST SHOE FESTIVAL IN APRIL

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Jan 25 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will host its first ever
international shoe festival this April, with its very own world famous shoe
designer Jimmy Choo acting as the advisor.

"We want to make 'shoes' a very important aspect of Malaysian tourism,"
said Tourism Minister Dr Ng Yen Yen on the sidelines of the 13th
Asean Tourism Ministers' meeting here, Sunday.

She said the event, to be held in Kuala Lumpur, would include an exhibition
and a seminar on shoes, and involve participation from Malaysian shoe
manufacturers as wells as international shoe designers.

"We will talk about shoes, its importance, the glamour part and what type
of shoes there are. This year is a start up, we hope to grow it as we go along,"
she added.
