Tourism business mushroomed in Savannakhet

(KPL) - Savannakhet Tourism Office hopes that tourism business will help Savannakhet residents in poverty reduction through the promotion of small medium enterprises practices.

This is in line with the opening 2nd Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge between
Savannakhet province's Laos and Mukdahan province's Thailand which has
provided service for two years.

According to Mrs Bounmy Khantivong, Director General of Savannakhet Tourism
Office disclosed last week that the tourists visiting Savannakhet province
has dramatically increased.

This year there are about 470,000 tourists to visit Savannakhet province
which expected to draw income amounting to US$14 million, almost of them are
Thais and Vietnamese and western tourists, he expected.

She told KPL news that the tourists come to visit Savannakhet province
through the 2nd Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge, Laobao border crossing and Road
No.13 South.

Savannakhet province plans to provide facilities to tourists to handle with
the increased number of visitors.
Now Savannakhet province has a total of 15 hotels and 68 guesthouses. At the same time local businesspeople still continue to seek many places for building hotels and guesthouses.
