Five central provinces assess tourism promotion
VIENTIANE,FEB 02- (KPL) The National Tourism Administration in cooperation with the tourism services of Vientiane Capital, Vientiane province, Bolikhamsay, Khammouane and Savannakhet held a meeting to assess the efforts and commitments of the five provinces and capital to promoting their tourism.
The assessment meeting took place in Khammouane province on January 9-30, simultaneously with the tourism festival of five central provinces, which was held in the said province.
Present at the meeting were President of National Tourism Administration, Mr. Somphong Mongkhonvilay, authorities and relevant officials of the fives provinces.
The participants also shared points of views on their cooperation over the next five years (2011-2015) and realized that each province needs to prepare budget and human resources to ensure their tourism development over the mentioned period.
In the last period 2008-2009 the tourism services of the five provinces focused mainly on personnel capacity building, the planning of tourist site development, the cooperation with concerned sectors on developing tourism, the advertisement of tourist sites, and the development of hotels and accommodation facilities for both domestic and foreign visitors.
