Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ During the second day of the visit to Belgium, the President Ts.Elbedorj has had a meeting with European Council (EC) president Van Rompuy.
Mr Rompuy supports a friutful and active cooperation EU-Mongolia. "According to the Lisbon agreement, the EC has taken new responsibility," he mentioned. "From the part of the EU I can say that we will always cooperate with Mongolia in strengthening its democracy and in boosting its economy," he said.
The Mongolian President Elbegdorj thanked Mr Rompuy for the auduence and said that he will, as the state head, pay more attention to strengthening the democracy and to making stronger the legal basis of the human rights protection in Mongolia. " I would like to thank the EU for its full support to temporary abolishment of capital punishment in Mongolia," he said.
The dignitaries noted that recently held in Ulaanbaatar first round meeting was fruiful run between the two sides to make the Partnership Cooperation Agreement. "We are ready to help Mongolia in making this Agreement and in its getting a status of the country with the market economy," he said.
