Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ Mongolian government and people do regret that some of Mongolia's national cultural folk arts has been listed in World Intangible Cultural Heritage under the name of other countries.
A Minister of Education, Culture and Sciences of Mongolia Yo.Otgonbayar has sent a letter to Mr Francesco Bandarin, a Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre. The letter says,"Mongolian national folk long song has been included in a Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2005 in putting together with the name of the People's Republic of China. Recently, art of the Mongolian khoomii singing (known as throat singing) has been listed in Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in November 2009 under the name of China".
In his letter, the Minister Otgonbayar expressed his hope that the UNESCO World Heritage Centre will review its decision regarding the Khoomii singing and that experts from the UNESCO will be sent to Mongolia to make a real assessment.
Khoomii is a unique Mongolian art of singing that has been practiced in Mongolia, Tuva and Inner Mongolia.
