WE WANT YOU TO KNOW MORE ABOUT MONGOLIA
HOW MONGOLIANS GREET
Mongolian have their own ways to greet each other, ways that are replete with poetic symbolism and deep meaning, and which press wishes for the good health and happiness of all.
If a traveler arrives at a ger of a cattle-breeder, he will enter with a smile and enquire after the health of all present, saying: "How is your health?" (Ta amarkhan sain baina uu?).
The reply is, "Fine; and how is yours?" (Sain baina aa. Ta amarkhan sain baina uu?). The traveler answers, "Fine." (Sain) and the hostess will then sit the visitor on her right side, a sign of special respect, and treat him to food. The host conducts the conversation.
