Yonhap releases mobile app for Android phone

SEOUL, Feb. 5 (Yonhap) -- Yonhap News Agency said Friday it has released a free news reader for mobile phones based on Google's Android operating system.

Yonhap launched the free application for Motorola Inc.'s Motoroi, which was
launched exclusively in South Korean on the same day.
The application can be downloaded at T Store (www.tstore.co.kr), SK Telecom's
mobile open market. It is soon to be made available at the Android Market site
operated by Google Inc., where developers can distribute software directly to
users of Android-based devices.
This follows Yonhap's earlier release of an application for iPhone users allowing
them to browse news in Korean, English, Japanese and Chinese.
The new apps give readers 24-hour access to real-time wire news, the company
said. It will start offering a photo service and a search function by next month.
Yonhap has South Korea's largest news-gathering network with 560 news writers and
reporters, including 61 correspondents in 46 cities overseas.
